Cranio Sacral Therapy

1/5

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.

Using soft touch, generally no greater than the weight of a 50p coin, the practitioner will release restrictions in the craniosacral system, thus improving the functioning of the whole body and mind at many different levels.

In a typical craniosacral session, you will usually lie, or sometimes sit, fully clothed on a treatment couch. The therapist will make contact by placing his hands lightly on your body and tuning in to what is happening - he is 'listening' with his heart and hands. Contact is made carefully so that you will feel at ease with what is happening.

The first thing you will probably notice is a sense of deep relaxation, which will generally last throughout the session. With subsequent treatments this release of tension often extends into everyday life.

The work can address physical aches and pains, acute and chronic disease, emotional or psychological disturbances, or simply help to develop a feeling of well-being, health and vitality.

Craniosacral therapy is so gentle that it is suitable for newborn babies as well as the young and the elderly. Treatment can aid almost any condition, raising vitality and improving the body's capacity for self-healing.

Somato Emotional Release (SER) is a framework and tool kit within CST treatment for facilitating a person's growth, away from illness and lack of potential, towards health and fulfilment.

Many of us are under-living our potential because of the retained effects of early life trauma, mental, emotional and physical.

This presents itself more obviously as chronic (i.e. long-term) physical illness, causing confusion and manifesting as sub-clinical dysfunctional patterns such as poor immunity, lack of energy, lack of confidence or anxiety.

Illness rather than being viewed entirely negatively can become a creative tool for sorting out our lives and redesigning our future. To get the most out of any such personal situation, an approach is called for which enables us to listen to and learn from our mind and body together.

Conventional health care separates the mind and body: we go for either physical therapy or psychotherapy; we go to a body hospital or a mind hospital! It is a fact that radical change in a person's physical health is always accompanied by equally profound mental change and vice versa.

Somato Emotional Release serves the purpose of combining all aspects of human nature, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual into one approach that can facilitate tremendous change and growth in a person's life.
