The cookery classes that Alchemy Health Clinic offer you have been created out of a firm belief in the old adage "You are what you eat!" With this in mind it is our desire to demonstrate the ease of cooking without meat - we will invite you to discover the abundance of wonderful fresh produce available to us. You will be shown recipes that are easy to follow, nourishing and wholesome to the body and soul. The more you know about food the easier it becomes to follow a sound, balanced and sane diet.
The weekly classes will show you step by step the art of Bread making, without the use of a bread-making machine! The preparation of soups and starters, exciting and appetizing pasta dishes, innovative ways of using pulses and grains. We will attempt to dispel the myths of soufflés being temperamental! To give you suggestions for using the relatively new vegetarian ingredients: the myco-protein Quorn, and Tofu. The use of seasonal winter fruits, making warm comforting puddings to the abundance of summer berries and the endless combination they offer, in juices, smoothies and desserts. Biscuits and cake making will not be forgotten!
We do not recommend the use of a microwave, nor the use of preservatives or artificial additives.
There will be classes especially set aside for students learning to cook on a limited budget which may be invaluable for those perhaps leaving home for the first time to attend university.
